  • The pundits and strategists on all sides of this Presidential contest, especially the relic Republicans, are amazed at the surge in popularity and electability of Senator Obama. What they don't get is that it is due to a force they failed to consider: the No-Nonsense Nature of Generation X. They've underestimated us, as usual. (Not that we really care what anyone thinks of us – never have, never will.) We know that the time has come for our generation to take the reins, in the person of Barack Obama, and a new mind set for new age.

Hillary and Healthcare

Jump back, Jack! Hillary's really pissed off about her Universal Healthcare plan being slammed by the Obama campaign. Way to go, Hill, for refusing to go down without a fight! Too bad any headway you made with the "human moment" at the Texas debate got completely wiped out with this rant >>>

We GenXers have lived through enough of these Presidential contests to know that this issue is the domestic agenda flavor of the year, which changes every four years depending on the latest domestic crisis.

Sure, the idea of Quality Affordable Healthcare For All is good and noble and everything, but we mainstream middle-classers know that, no matter what the difference between the Clinton and Obama plans, it's gonna cost us. Face it: when you two start splitting hairs over the differences in your healthcare plans, our eyes glaze over and we're off to see what The Mythbusters are up to.

Like many GenXers, I have rejected the ineptitude and back-stabbing of Boomer Management in corporate America and chosen the lone wolf consultant route. I've been paying for my own health insurance for over ten years and I really hope I don't get seriously sick because I would have to sell my car to pay the $5,000 annual dedictible that lowers my premium to only $300 a month.

No matter how it shakes down, I support your efforts on Healthcare Reform because I have a vague hope that standardizing the total scam that is the Healthcare Insurance Industry will somehow reduce the cost for me, too. More importantly: if you're going to tax the hell out of me, I'd prefer to see my hard-earned cash used to provide social services to Americans, rather than Iraqis.
